The Dental Postgraduate Section supports postgraduate education and training for the whole dental workforce (Dentists and Dental Care Professionals) in Wales. This includes dental foundation and dental specialty training for dentists and continuing professional development (CPD) for dentists and DCPs. These activities are underpinned by appropriate educational research and quality assurance to ensure that they are of a high standard to meet the needs of dental professionals in support of their care for their patients.

As the new academic year is fast approaching, have you considered your professional development requirements? The Wales Deanery provides a variety of courses for the Dental Team in venues across Wales.Study days can vary from 1 day on specific topics to longer courses to gain additional qualifications.
All courses have verifiable CPD hours.

In accordance with the UK's latest guidance on conscious sedation, all those involved in sedation practice are encouraged to update their knowledge and skills annually. In order to support those deliverying conscious sedation, the Dental Postgraduate Department will be offering a theoretical update session in North and South Wales.
Educational AimsTo provide an update for the dental team on recent advances in conscious sedation techniques.To inform of any changes in legislation relating to the practice of sedation.To ensure that practitioners of sedation techniques are conversant with accepted current practice.
Learning OutcomesAt the end of the course, participants should be able to adopt any changes that have occurred since undertaking their sedation training and use the information and provide evidence based practice.
Designed for: Dentists and Nurses who have completed the Standard Conscious Sedation Course and/or who are undertaking sedation in their practice
