The School of Medicine has a new Lead. Dr Michael D Page was appointed to replace Dr Rhid Dowdle in May 2011. Dr Page is a Consultant based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant. Originally from Yorkshire, Mike qualified from the Welsh National School of Medicine in 1980 and trained in Endocrinology & Diabetes. He was appointed as a Consultant Physician in 1993 to the then East Glamorgan Hospital.

Medicine is a specialty that offers an incredibly diverse range of training opportunities. To make the most of these opportunities we offer a quality assured programme that starts by providing a solid grounding in medicine. This leads on to a number of distinct strands designed to provide the training opportunities and direction needed to get the most out of a career in medicine.
These strands are:
- Core Medical Training to Level 1 of the curriculum in General (Internal) Medicine (Acute Medicine) and Acute Care Common Stem - Medicine in co-operation with the ACCS Lead.
- Higher Training in Medicine to Level 2 of the curriculum in General (Internal) Medicine (Acute Medicine) for trainees in specialties co-training with Acute & General Medicine.
- Higher Training in Medicine to Level 3 of the curriculum in General (Internal) Medicine (Acute Medicine) for trainees specialising in Acute & General Medicine.
