Welsh Urological Society

Urology in Wales is support by the Welsh urological Society. With over 20 years history the society has facilitated the development of Urological Practise and Training. Twice yearly scientific meetings provide an ideal forum for trainees to learn and present their research. The Welsh Urology website (welshurology.org) has a trainees section including a secure forum for discussion and is the route of communication between the trainees and programme director.

In Service Assessment

Trainees are review on an annual basis by the Urology Surgical Training Committee (STC). All trainees will follow the new (2007) Curriculum and register with the ISCP to develop a portfolio showing progression and competence. In addition trainees are expected to sit the EBU in-service exam and take part in a mock viva day to ensure satisfactory progress through the syllabus.

Regional Urology Teaching

A compulsory regional teaching day takes place on the 2nd Friday of each month. The sessions follow a rolling timetable with topics chosen to both reflect the new urology curriculum and prepare trainees for the FRCS (Urol) examination.
