Who Can Help You?

Whilst acting as the first point of contact for trainees, you will be able to draw on other stakeholders in the medical education and employer framework to help you support trainees with more specialised or complex career issues. The main tiers of career support are:

  • Local Support - Education Supervisors, Postgraduate Centre Managers, College Tutors
  • Advanced Local Support - Postgraduate Organiser, Specialty Training Chairs, Speciality Careers Leads, Foundation Programme Directors, Training Programme Directors, Mentors, Health Board HR/Occupational Health
  • Deanery - Associate Deans, Career Development Adviser, Performance Team, Individual Support Programme

Contact the Deanery Careers Team via PG Medical Careers if you wish to refer a doctor with career difficulties for an in-depth career review meeting, to run a career planning workshop or event for your trainees or to seek support and advice with the “career helping” aspect of your role. The following forms are helpful for providing us with some background, but if completing them proves inhibiting or sensitive for a trainee then they are not essential, as long as we have contact details for the trainee and a brief outline about the reasons for referring them for spacialist help.
