You can signpost trainees to the Self Assessment Tools section for resources, on the "What Do I Want?" page. Download our Career Self Assessment and Action Plan which contains a range of questionnaires on career values, interests and transferable skills which build into a personal action plan. You can use this as part of educational supervision.
A document with guidelines on accessing and using Sci59, an online tool to help with specialty choice, is in the Related Resources area on this page. The Open University site for Sci59 background information about the tool.
The Deanery Careers Team can offer psychometric profiling as part of individual careers support for doctors who are referred for specialist guidance, including the Myers Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI). These tools can be used to help clarify motivation and values, occupational interests and personal strengths and limitations. The NHS Medical Careers offers some helpful information on the use of MBTI in career support.
