This set of materials is designed for a one-hour teaching session to help Year 2 Foundation doctors and other potential Specialty trainees prepare for the application process and anticipate what may be required in selection centres. Implementing a career plan is the final step in personal career planning after self assessment, exploration and decision-making.

Additional or alternative activities include:

• Using the AGCAS Specialty Training Applications DVD – showing clips and sessions and having group/plenary discussions to identify – what is most challenging about this kind of selection station? How could we prepare?
• Setting up practice interview sessions or mock interview panels
• Setting up mock presentations – choice of 3 topics, 10 mins to prepare, 5 to present – with peer feedback
• Asking everyone asked to bring CV and having peer review in pairs and triads.
