Recruitment to speciality training for General Practice in Wales is normally conducted once a year. Our next recruitment round, beginning in the middle of November 2011, will be for 3 year rotations starting in August 2012.
For the 3 year programme - All ST1s will undertake 1 year of hospital posts; ST2s will undertake 6 months of hospital posts then 6 months in a General Practice post or vice versa; and ST3s will undertake 12 months in a General Practice post.

Registration with the RCGP and the e-portfolio
Prior to commencing your GP Training you must register with the Royal College of General Practioners (RCGP) as an Associate in Training (AiT). You will need a National Training Number (NTN) to enable you to register and gain access to the RCGP eportfolio which is a requirement of GP Specialty Training.

Background In December 2007 the BMA amended the BMA/COGPED model framework contract in respect of annual leave entitlements. The BMA advised that in line with the hospital terms and conditions of service, those GP specialty registrars on point three or above of the specialty registrar pay scale are those who are eligible for additional leave.
