CPD – Continuing Personal or Professional Development - is the term that describes a commitment to structured skills enhancement and personal or professional competence.
All doctors need to keep their generic skills and knowledge up to date and can benefit from participating in the range of CPD activities and resources provided by the Section. The General Practice Section provides support and educational advice to GPs and Health Boards on an individual basis, including local delivery where appropriate.
There are groups of GPs who are likely to have additional educational needs which are specifically related to their role/s. The Section provides a series of targeted CPD programmes for groups of GPs with common educational needs and a montly programme of meetings for Sessional GPs is provided on a regional basis.
All general practice trainees, whilst in a general practice post, are required to undertake a minimum of 72 hours of out of hours (OOH) pro rata.
