Sessional GPs

GPs in Wales who were formerly known as Non-Principals are termed Sessional GPs. This is an umbrella term which includes ‘freelance GPs (locums) and ‘salaried’ GPs’ (retainers, assistants and other salaried GPs). The Section runs a series of education days in North, South East & South West Wales to provide these GPs with ongoing support and to address their learning needs.

This resource highlights the problems associated with falls in the elderly. It contains a simple educational module and a far more detailed practice wide audit of care in patients with falls - suggesting a practice-based falls strategy. It has been developed by the GP section of PGMDE in Cardiff University and the PCQIS of the NPHS in Wales.
