F1 & F2 SIGN-OFF

The sign-off process commences in June, however, it is imperative that your e-Portfolio is kept up to date throughout the year, not only during the sign-off period, to avoid a last minute rush and panic. A checklist outlining the mandatory requirements can be downloaded dochere and should be used to help you keep track of your progress.

Personalised packs containing more detailed information regarding the sign-off process will be forwarded to F1s week commencing 21st May 2012 and to F2s week commencing 11th June 2012.

Applying for Full GMC Registration – (applicable to F1 doctors only)

F1 doctors will also need to apply for full GMC registration with a licence to practice prior to commencing their F2 training. The GMC will contact you in May regarding this process and additional information will be included in your personalised pack as mentioned above.

Whilst sign-off is managed by the Wales Foundation School for all doctors working in Wales (regardless of where they graduated), full registration is managed by your graduating medical school or the foundation school linked to your medical school. Registration for IMG/EEA graduates training in Wales will be managed by the Wales Foundation School.

If you are a non-Cardiff UK Graduate, a central list of contacts in each area can be downloaded docxhere so that you know where to send your registration documentation. This will be explained in more detail in your personalised pack, so please wait until you receive this information before contacting your home medical/foundation school.

More information can be obtained from:-

Sioned (F1 sign-off) and Kate (F2 sign-off)

Working abroad for F2

The Wales Foundation School does not accredit doctors who wish to undertake their F2 year outside the UK.

Foundation School Transfers

Foundation doctors contemplating requesting an IFST should check the relevant “Guidance for Applicants” in the Key Documents section of the UKFPO website. Applications must be approved and signed by the local Foundation Training Programme Director/Tutor and the Foundation School Director.

If you are considering turning down your offer please be aware that it is unlikely that you will be able to obtain a place on a training programme approved for provisionally registered doctors outside the national system.

Please note the deadline for applications (for current Foundation Doctors wishing to apply for a transfer out of the Wales Foundation School) is Monday 7th November 2011.
