The Wales Deanery has set up a programme aimed at professionalising the role of clinical and educational supervisors. This programme is entitled Supervising the Route to Excellence.
This is a key element in the deanery's commitment to delivering high quality medical education and training. The deanery recognises that the key to achieving excellence in postgraduate medical training and education is the provision of support for consultants in their educational roles.
One element of this support is the provision of a 'Tools for Trainers' course. The launch of these e-modules is one strand of this work.

The Training will be available from October 2011 to April 2012.
The Wales Deanery is offering a half day training course (4 hours) which covers the key areas of Workplace Based Assessment and Giving Constructive Feedback. This is part of a wider approach to developing a sustainable model of medical educators, mapped to both Academy of Medical Educators (AoME) Professional Standards and those of the GMC’s The Trainee Doctor and Tomorrow's Doctors.
CPD Value- 4 points - to be confirmed.
This training will appeal to both Postgraduate and Undergraduate educators who deliver training to trainees or teach undergraduate students.
The courses will be delivered by the Deanery’s Senior Clinical team and undergraduate facilitators will also assist with providing an undergraduate focus. Deanery contributors include:
