image-111971-webThe Academic Section of Medical Education is committed to providing excellence in learning and teaching for health professionals. We provide an active programme of courses for health professionals involved in teaching ranging from workshops on specific topics to full Master Degree programmes.

Courses run by the section include:

  • MSc/Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education
  • Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma and MSc in Medical Education by e-learning

The section also runs shorter, more intensive courses, such as:

  • Effective Teaching Skills
  • Teaching Techniques for SpRs/STs

Medical Education also offer study days on a variety of contemporary issues for health care professionals.

In addition, the section undertakes educationally focused research and development including supervising doctoral studies and publishing the ever popular 'How to' series which provides accessible information on a wide range of topical issues in medical education.

  • To enable one to understand that:
    • Teaching does not need to be antiquated and old. It can be innovative (small group techniques, gaming etc.)
    • Enthusiasm in one’s subject can be infectious on the students.
    • The course approaches medical education in an interesting and thought provoking manner.
  • Meeting colleagues from other specialties and gaining from their different perspectives.
  • Learning the theory behind what will hopefully be an improvement in my teaching.
